In October 2013 Despina Kapetanaki founded Experimental Theatre Studio in Bielefeld University.
The studio was a space for research and experimentation on contemporary theatre practice.
Special emphasis was given on the actor's physical and vocal training, as well as on performing in unconventional places.
In January 2014, the studio performed in the biannual Theatre Festival of Bielefeld University with the piece "Short Stories Big City".
In July 2014, the site-specific version of the piece was performed on the deck of the Parkhaus am Hauptbahnhof.
In February 2015, the studio invited Sarah Edkins, a Brooklyn-based set designer.
D.Kapetanaki and Sarah Edkins worked together, experimenting with different possibilities of using the space.
At the end of their collaboration they delivered the workshop:
"Stage space: creating dynamics". After this, the studio ceased its activities as Despina Kapetanaki
followed her decision to move to Berlin. The activities of the studio were funded by Bielefeld University
and Kulturamt Bielefeld.
